An intimate creek inspired wedding in Babcock State Park.

Josh contacted me not so long ago wanting to find a photographer to cover his short, intimate wedding with his fiancé, Audrey, and close family and friends. They were looking at places that meant something to them in the New River Gorge area (the couple live in Detroit). They were considering a local trail, but the trail had since slipped into the mountainside since their last visit and opted for Babcock State Park along Glade Creek with the iconic Glade Creek Grist Mill upstream.

We settled for 9 am on a Friday in August. About a dozen people gathered on a large rock along the creek. The park was almost empty. This would have been impossible on a weekend. The couple exchanged their vowels, their “I dos” and we set out for portraits. There wasn’t a reception or anything like that. This was two people surrounded by those that matter to them expressing their commitments for each other and readying to face to world as one.
